What tie rods are in a Beck?

Postby Mark P. » Sun Oct 22, 2017 9:09 am

I ordered all new tie rod ends for my 1998 Beck 550. Went to install them today and they're all too small. What year beetle parts should I be looking for? Apparently these changed a few times.

Has anyone made a cheat sheet of parts these cars were made from? Always a struggle to get the correct part the first time.

Hey Mark,
Best to check with Carey at SE/Beck or have the part in hand/measure when checking or ordering. I think we all struggle in the same way but a parts list would be cool Larry may have a parts list or Carey may have one. I think the problem may be the year a car is built and what parts they have on hand are what may be used. I've not had to do one in my 550 yet but did one in my SE/Beck 356, I got lucky measured the existing one and the replacement fit.
Good luck,

Pete

Yeah, apparently '68-'79 is what works. Ordered a set from eBay, a company called Volktec. Looks good so far.
