When I bought my 911SC a number of years ago, I had Callas Rennsport in Torrance do a pre-purchase inspection. They were great - actually when I went there they were working on the 911 that Steve McQueen drove at the beginning of the movie "LeMans". They weren't cheap, but they were a top notch Porsche garage. You may also check with the guys at Pelican Parts. They are in El Segundo, and are a great resource for many things Porsche.

Good luck, and at least there are a lot of options in LA, as opposed to East Texas (where I am now)!

Callas is great, but pretty far from you.
I suspect there are some excellent places in the valley.
Being in the South Bay I use Callas and Auto Meister. They're each an hour away from your request.
