Special Edition and Chamonix

Postby WasserSpyder » Mon Sep 26, 2005 8:47 am

Hello, and thank you for visiting this new forum.
My name is Carey Hines, and I am VP of Special Edition, Inc. This forum is based around the Brazilian Porsche replica products made by Chamonix Industria e Comercio, Ltda.

Our company, Special Edition, is located in Bremen, IN. We are the exclusive North American distributor for ALL Chamonix products. We encourage you to verify this by visiting the factory site at http://www.chamonixcars.com.br

You may also want to read an open letter to all spyder enthusiasts written by, and posted to this forum for Sr. Newton Masteguin, President of Chamonix. You will find this in the Vendor Discussions section.
http://www.spyderclub.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=7241

The Chamonix product line consists of the following:

1) The Chamonix Spyder 550 - conventional air-cooled version of the famous 550 Spyder.

2) The Chamonix Spyder 550S - an all new watercooled version, featuring a 5 speed manual transmission, DeDion rear suspension, 2.0L VW/Audi inline 4, Multiport fuel injection, with a bundle of standard features (roll bars, tonneau, top, side curtains)

3) The Beck 356A Speedster. Accurate recreation of the late '57 356A Speedster. http://www.beckspeedster.com

4) We will proudly introduce the 1964 356C cabriolet replica in the coming months. This is a reincarnation of the famous ENVEMO Super 90 of the 1980's, also of Brazilian manufacture.

Our product line is represented by an ever growing number of Authorized Dealers around the country. While not all of our dealers handle all of the product line, we invite you to call, e-mail, or PM for details in your area.

We will be updating our website with more information on the Spyders in the near future. In the interim, feel free to contact us for complete details.

Again, thank you for joining us here.

Carey Hines

....and about the Spyder \"R\" Version

Postby » Fri Oct 28, 2005 1:34 pm

....as seen on the chamonix website - 300hp vw powered track car.....
price, features, ???

Postby WasserSpyder » Sun Oct 30, 2005 5:21 am

The Spyder R is a modified version of the watercooled spyder that was built for the endurance races at Interlagos.
Same general suspension set-up as the watercooled car, DeDion rear, etc. Full race slicks, roll cage, and obviously the body modifications for aerodynamic purposes.
The engine in that particular car is a highly modified 1.8L VW turbo/intercooled. I wasn't at the track when it ran, but was told it hit 186 MPH on the back straight. [:0]
It is not something that is \"in production\" rather something that could be custom built if desired.
PM or e-mail me for pricing, etc...

a spyder that went 186?!? what aero mods were involved? i'd love to put street versions of those on my car for less lift in on the front end at warp speeds...

Simon,

It doesn't look like a spyder when it's done, but it goes like hell. Like I said, it was something for the track...

The drivetrain is based on the VW Santana/Passat which (I believe) is the same as the Audi 80/A100. It uses the factory VW/Audi gearbox too. (Well, a beefed version of that in this case...)

I'm off to Vegas for some much needed R&R (coupled with the SEMA show):)

Carey I'm from Brazil and I am very interested to see this version of Spyder, I never seen that before, I used to go Interlagos to see the races and I'm building a special spyder based on Chamonix that are very commented here. It will made with double A-arms front and rear suspensions, VW Gol Gti 2.0 16v dohc turbo - intercooled engine, racing seats and belts, so I need to see others projects to help my building project, could you send to my e-mail box (marcel@contabilciola.com.br) some pictures of this Spyder race-style?

Sorry about my baaad english, I wil be thankfull if you can help me.

Hugs

mciola,

No problem. I can send some photos via e-mail. I have several that show installation of racing harnesses, a 20v VW turbo engine and intercooler, the racing panels, roll bars, full cages, etc, etc... I will organize them this afternoon and forward them to you.
