Are you guys coming this year? I know we're not doing another build, but it would be nice to see you guys again. Maybe you can bring that Mini-Speedster this year.

We'll be there. Maybe next year we can build a spyder over the weekend...

The Mini speedster hit the road today for the first time. =D>
At least a month of shake down driving and then we'll make final changes and production tools. Won't be in time for Carlisle, but I plan on having a few aircooled speedsters and spyders. Probably a h2o spyder as well, although I can't keep them around currently.
I'm also trying to finish my coupe so I can drive it while I'm there... I WILL beat the Carlisle downpours!!

What downpours? Ha ha! I'd be happy to help w/ a Spyder build, we'll have to talk Gordon and the boys into it this year. Looking forward to seeing and maybe getting a ride in that coupe, the key to mine is yours if you want to drive a little. I'll be towing mine there this year after last years bath! Funny, it didn't rain one drop while we were there, it only got us to and from.

Carey,

What is a mini speedster? The one in the picture looks fully proportioned to me.

Mid-engine BMW Mini Cooper drivetrain: Same DeDion rear set-up as the h2o spyder. Trunk, heat, air, electronic throtle, hydro clutch, cabl;e shift. 1st one is 5 speed, but we have a 6 speed as well as a SVT to play with.
Will be playing with a new turbo and various John Cooper Perfromance parts this summer.

Hmmmm.... Can you do that with a Spyder? Looks like the engine is forward of the rear axle.

Terry, I have a feeling that the Spyder body is a little too low for the Mini powertrain, but I could be wrong.

The original \"S\" model came with a supercharger from the factory. That could be a pretty potent package for a Spyder.

IIRC Hans has a Mini Cooper. Maybe he has a comment on it's performance.

TriTec, the Brazilian engine manufacturer for the Mini motor from 99-06, is helping with a purpose built turbo for us. We can use the supercharged \"s\" motor from a donor car, or an aftermarket supercharger, but BMW holds the rights to the supercharger, so we can't get it w/ the motor.

Not sure if the motor is taller than the VW/Audi in the current h2o spyder, but there definately isn't any room if it is taller...
