performance changes

Postby Dave Avery » Fri Aug 22, 2003 9:10 am

Hi All

I'm tweaking performance with my firewall now... It appears that we had a huge number of anonymous users downloading some 20M videos. This was taking almost 300M a day of bandwidth, and I fear that direct links for these videos may be posted somewhere else.

To try to curb this, I moved zipped versions of these to the spyderclub FTP server, and I have a bandwidth constrictor applied to keep outside sites from leeching these files. Downloads will be a bit slower, but at least we won't go over our usage plans!

Thanks,

DMA

Tuned more...

Hey all

I just tuned a little more. I bumped the normal site bandwidth limits up, and cut a little more into the downloads. There are still people downloading tons of videos. I may try to find someone else to hold them so the bandwidth they are taking can be given back to the rest of the site.
