:D I guess this is as good as anyplace to say hello. Hello

As we all know, Chuck learned to keep records from the Italians, so details are sketchy on my car. As per my Avatar, it's #201 and I believe it was assembled at the factory in California, as that's where all the paperwork originated. But, as its spent the last little while with Carey in Indiana, I'm going to call it a Chamonix!

Carey just replaced the sketchy Jamar shifter with a cable set up and the Home Depot hardware clutch with a hydraulic unit, and replaced the straight pipe with a CB Performance/Flowmaster exhaust.

AFAIK, (info from the PO) it's got a 2.0L CB Performance engine and Freeway Flyer trans, when I bought it, after sitting for a number of years, it had just had a re-spray in Silver and the interior redone in Red Leather. I bought it about 40 miles from Bremen, so first stop was Special Editions and they mounted the glass windscreen and made me a tonneau for it, and gave it the once over so I could drive it back to NYC, where I was living at the time.

The odo reads 46,000. I have no idea if it's accurate. Might be one of the highest mileage Spyders around if so. I bought it in 2012 and every time I tried to work on it I threw out my back, so it pretty much languished under its cover until last year, when I dropped it off in Indiana on my way home to Utah.

It should be a dependable cruiser now, and I fully intend to put it in daily rotation with my Smart and my Porsche 968 while the weather is nice. Hopefully I can do the little bits to get it up to 100% without too much trauma. :D

Welcome. I have #191 and I bought it directly from Beck in Upland, CA near where I lived at the time in late 1980s.

:wave

Was your car a kit or a turn-key? Do you know when it was built? My car originally had a 1996 Title. Thankfully Utah allowed me to register it as a 1955 Beck Special Interest Vehicle so I can use a 1955 Plate on it. (It's one of my OCD fetishes, having period plates on my cars.)

Mine was a kit and I bought it from Chuck in late 1989 or may be even early 1990.

Hi all,

I recently acquired Beck #171, (CA Kit build) that has been in British Columbia Canada for the past 25 years (1992 title), now we have it Ontario Canada. We had to jump through a lot of hoops to get it on the road here but it's finally plated and I had it out and about this weekend -- what a riot!

- CB Performance 2276 with Dual Weber 44 IDFs.
- Ranchero Type 1 Trans
- Lots of other unknowns, will find out as I go.
