Porsche 547 Fan shroud

Postby Bic » Mon Jan 21, 2013 1:27 pm

HI Everyone,
After searching everywhere I have decided to build a very close 547 Fan Shroud replica for the Porsche 550 Kit.
I am still tweaking the Shroud and i am making the bucks for all the Aluminum pieces needed for the real look.
I have attached a photo of the first mach up of the Shroud and the first attempt at spinning the velocity cover for the fan ( i have not cut out the opening yet).
I am working on the cone piece to cover the fan nut. I will have it soon.
I will be taking orders soon.
Comments welcome

Hi Devin,
Im not sure yet,
There will be the fans shroud, rear velocity ring, center nut cone. and ring similar to back but with supports for the generator. Kinda like the 911 style. I will be woking on that next. Probably around $1500.00 for all the pieces.
I will be dyno tested for cooling before release.
Here is todays progress. I will probably do a limited run.

Looks good Bic. Can't wait to see the finished product. [8D]

Is this for the Type I or Type IV, or both engines?

Looks real good. At that price and if it fits and is tested on a Type IV I will sign up for one.

I am starting to work on the Generator bracket for the Shroud.
I have not spun the inner liner for the generator but I am finalizing the outer ring and supports.
There will be an inner ring, that the generator will side into and the shaft ad 2 mounting bolts will pass through the back and attache like on the old backing plate.

Here is the update.

A little closer.
I have moved up in thickness on the Aluminum from .040 now to .090"

This makes a nicer feel and is much more solid.
Next step is to Tig all the pieces.

before liner and first fin. 3 fins will support the generator and the support strap will be hidden.
