Look here:

It's basically a velocity stack for your fan.

This won't work with the applications you guys are talking about, but my venturi ring came from an NHRA pro stock Holley carb that went against the hood scoop.

Albaran,

Do you have a part number or know where I might look to check out that venturi? I searched the Holly scoops/ venturi's didn't find any thing like that.

Thanks,

Pete

Try part of an old commercial circular ceiling air diffuser.

They use to be in the Jegs/Summit catalogs but since pro stock switched to fuel injection, I haven't seen any. I used the center mount system to start, like Bic did, but he did a lot more custom fabrication. When I was in his garage, I wanted to buy one of the nose cones he made but he didn't have any extras.

I almost bought this but held off. The opening is 7-inches, which is just a little bigger than our fan opening.

The commercial circular ceiling air diffuser suggested by RBP is not a bad idea if a ring on the diffuser is similar to our Raby DTM fan shrouds.

Round ceiling diffusers are of different size and style, each with 4 or 5 rings of different sizes so you can select one that's close then cut and weld to suit. They are typically made of light gauge material so easy to work with. If that doesn't work do a search for "centrifugal fan inlet bell". In my industry (commercial HVAC) all fans come with inlet bells to enhance airflow, that's why I installed one on my DTM. It actually acts like a 1st stage of compression and the fan accelerates the air for a 2nd stage, so it helps increase the fan capability and looks really good doing it. You just need to find one of a size you can work with. After sizing mine it was glassed, filled and painted with the DTM for a clean look. https://www.google.ca/search?q=centrifu ... 07&bih=766

If you have a type - I motor with this style of fan housing any sort of diffuser-venturi ; call it what you like, will have no effect on air flow/transition into the fan !
