Larry,

Yeah -- it's mine.

I explain my "why?" in the auction comments -- basically I'm not driving it enough and so I'd like to get it to another person who will enjoy it.

I've looked a bit at how people are selling their Spyders. I concluded that BringATrailer.com brings a lot of eyes to look at the cars and the auction brings a lot of activity, often for a very good sale price.

Great car. And this forum has been a great place to learn, ask quesions and meet fellow owners. RalphC, Opa Don, rsrdoug to name a few. Many good times --

And I especially appreciate your shepherding the site and users all this time. Thank you so much! I'll continue to hang out and pitch in some support when needed. Thank you!

Ricardo

Thank you and,,,,,Good luck with the auction. I knew it was you because you used the same "user name" for the auction as you do on this board.

Good luck Ricardo. Totally understand your reason to sell, not same as mine last year. Mine went to a good home in Fresno. Quite honestly, miss driving the Spyder a lot 😭. Most fun car I've ever owned, and there were lots 👍👊. And it was great meeting you, RalphC and other Spyder owners in the Bay Area. Wonderful group

I love the way it sounds, is that one of the standard Vintage exhausts? Also what type of battery is that, it looks like an Optima, but I didn’t think they made a 1u size battery.

Yes, it's the standard Vintage exhaust.

The battery is an Optima red top. I could look up the size.

All I can say is that I am humbled by the auction comments and the outcome.

This is a great car. I've been told that I am a detail person; apparently other people like the results of OCD.

Many thanks to go around -
-- Greg Leach at Vintage Motorcars for a great car, great tubular frame and great support. (Great PBS shifter among several 3-year updates)
-- CB Performance for a great VW Type 1 2276cc engine kit and great support to my questions
-- many supportive websites who helped me choose and source parts
-- Palo Alto Speedometer for the truly great 550 Spyder replica gauges. My favorite.
-- many friends on spyderclub.com. Larry Jowdy's dedication to the community. Many great drives together in the East Bay. Ralph Costa was an inspiration from the get-go. So knowledgeable! Don Chiang, Doug Snyder and several others I'm failing to mention -- (it's my memory).

The SpyderClub.com community -- many helps. Navigating SB100 certification for one.

Anyway -- this is my all time favorite car. Favorite color. Favorite to drive. etc.

Regrets? I only wish I had worked out the plan to auto cross the car. Woulda been a hoot! I many never have finished a circuit due to spin outs, but it woulda been fun!

Thank you all ---

Great result! You're gonna miss it, though.
I have to go stupid fast in the Spyder's replacement for it to feel like fast- modern cars are sooo capable. But, a Spyder feels fast, or ready to be fast most all of the time.
