Ok, but I don't know of any replica 550's with the rear clam modified to include the indent or flattened area where the licence plate mounts. I also noted that the badging on that car looks interesting and different then the ones available to us.

Again, there is definitely a real Spyder in the commercial - certainly at the beginning, but certain views during the driving sequences look like a replica, look closely from about 1:40 to 1:47. The rear fender arches look really tall, and the windshield cowl has a noticeable arch two of the bigger giveaways when spotting a replica. I would guess that for insurance reasons they did not use areal Spyder for all of the driving sequences.

The new rear Vintage clam is pretty true to the majority of originals. I bought one and am quite happy with the improvement. I don't think Greg (Vintage has had it available for all that long, but it is very nice (flat license area included).

Unless you have a newer rear deck from Vintage (2010 or so) our cars are rounded in that area. At least that's what I understood, admitting I am no expert.

I agree Dan, Here is my original post, I don't think the new clams from Greg were available when the commercial was done.

Definitely correct that the commercial pre-dates the new clam.

What is really cool is the script and logo you see in the beginning! Never seen ones that nice.

Maybe the problem is that there are too many replicas in California...

Imagine arriving at a car event with an authentic historic Porsche only to find a dozen or so replicas right next to yours...

See how that sounds.

Where I live, I'm the only one in my area (so far) with a replica Spyder. I don't complain when I see 3 replica Cobras at the same event.

To each his own, I say! Ride on. [8D]

I have heard that it was indeed a replica in the driving sequences

It was a real one in the garage, but I believe they used a Beck for the driving scenes. Personally, with respect to the original post, I've never understood the affinity to associate with Dean.

I like to be different, which is why the white body/red darts paint.
