And Dan, I've found the same when it comes to wind. It definitely comes over the windshield and curls back and hits the back of the neck. Wind works exactly the same on a hill facing the ocean. There it is called a rotor and can crash you if you are flying in it(I used to do RC slope-soaring).

This would make it harder to get in and out, but might actually be nice while driving.

If you could make a hard tonneau that hinged at the passenger door, with maybe a gas strut to pick it up/hold it, you could make quite a cool entrance at cars & coffee.

The car Ed showed photos of is the one I referenced earlier with:
at least one original Spyder did use the wrap around at the Carrera Panamericana
Think there was only one. That car was in L.A. for many years on display. Then it was at a charitable event held with Rennsport Reunion. It sold at auction in Monterey a few years ago. Hazy memory was about $5M. She got in by opening the door and scooting in from below.

Wow that would be quite the acrobatics trick for me to pull off! It's bad enough getting in through the door with no top. I've seen people shake their head and chuckle at me when I unfold out of the car and stand up and I'm only 5'8".
