Bringing an old SPCN CA registered car back to California.

Will keep this simple and short is there a process to bring a cobra or 550 back into California that already has a SPCN or SB100 registration in the state but is now registered out of state.

IE can my old Cobra come back from the person I sold it too about 10 years back if I buy it back. Basically my old 65 spec racer popped up in Nevada and I want it back. It was originally registered in the early 90's.

Anyone who has done this I would love to talk, send me an text 858 610-8742 or if you can respond here that would be fantastic. The CA DMV line is not helpful.

No problem, Once it's registered in CA, it can be brought back and registered like any other car. Hopefully it has the SB100 or you will have to go through the process of having it smogged or applying for a SB100 exemption. The Special Construction number is now the VIN for the car.

Thank you. It has the SB100 and original SPCN number on the chassis already. Its a sentimental car and I want it back.

DMV finally came through and confirmed this as well.

We will see. offer is out but I need to drag it back home somehow or ship it back enclosed due to the lack of roof. Worst case I will fly out and drive it home.
