lies told by the current president, and past president about how it got there. Just posted this picture then got attacked by the cat fanciers who will never admit that without us their vendors would not be able to sell enought product and the value of their cars would not be as high because our cars are out there. :-)

I'll tell you man. You have to be careful around conservator folks about their \"cause celeb\", whatever it is. If they think they detect a whiff of insincerity, that will be all.

What we all share is the love of these cars. Most of us cannot afford a $150K for a speedy, or a cool 2 million for a 550 if one happens to go up.

These clowns are in every forum for every car out there as well not just Porsche. Try building a Hebmuller VW replica and see what happens with the owners of the originals, they have a freak out session, yet they are now pressing new metal in Germany due to the desire from Replica people to make it a business, and guess who can also use the metal.....

....try a simple thanks....that would be nice.

At the end of the day I'd say it's a save face move for the purist to be claiming they were duped so to speak into putting up that great shot of yours.

Hey at least we can drive ours without having a heart attack while on the road worrying about every pebble....

That's the car when it was sold a few years ago - not sure why he wants to offload it now, but obviously there will be great appreciation on it so he makes a buck. When these come up, it is a rare opportunity, so Ken, as the housing in Oz are actually worth something, we can remortgage our multi-million dollar properties and go halves - Summer east coast, winter west coast ;)

here are the specs for the sale...

1955 Porsche Spyder Type 550 / 1500 RS
series # 550-0062

Owner # september 8-1955 to Hoffman Motors in NY
Owner # Fred Schraegle
Owner # Frank Rand
Owner # Wayne & Eileen Coursey
Owner # actual

The car as a number of spares which was collected over the years including a spare Carrera engine # P-90879 acquired in September 1965.
The car has weber 40 DCM carbs as factory optional.

With the original Importer’s and manufacture’s Statement of Origin in hand he became the first titled owner of the car.

1988/89 After a visit to Weissach and the Porsche archives collection, he completely restored the car from chassis up. The car was totally disassembled, the body dipped to remove the under coating, which revealed the original aluminium mill’s ink printed identification on some of the flat pieces.

The extra holes drilled to install the interior were filled and the front air ducts reconstructed.
The seats were recovered in the original tan vinyl.
The spare engine was rebuilt and installed in the car preserving the original engine unrestored for display.

I doubt the War Office would agree - getting the 993 past the approval system was hard enough! Now I have 2 stupid cars!
