I have been using this software for a while now on another board and here are some things that you will like:

The search WORKS! Try it.

You can only show new posts since your last visit by clicking on \"show new posts since last visit\" on the right side, at the top of the main board page.

You can go directly to the latest post in a thread by clicking on the little arrow pointing to a little page next to the poster's name in the listing.

Once you get used to phpBB you will love it.

Lookie what I can do....

I CAN BE BIG AND RED!

c, check your cookie handling; it uses cookies to determine when you were here last. Also, IE 5.0 has some bugaboos, may want to look at IE 6.0 (some DHTML scripting fails)

cookies are ok.

the other BBS \"new message\" worked. the machine is too slow for ie 6. and i dont like the funky stuff like automatic picture resizes etc.

i know its a ie 5.0 problem, but some other phpbb's work, so there might be a patch or someting.

also the clock seams to mot be Eastern time. can you make it Eastern time so its easier for \"me\" to tell whats new.

Ahh... you hit it c... You are stuck in GMT I think... go to your profile from the link at the top and choose the proper time zone. When I converted, it didn't move the time zones properly. If this works, I'll post it as a sticky in the forums.

Thanks for all your hard work, Dave. I am sure once we get used to the new format that we will be impressed with the new options. Terry

Member ratings?

Postby PhotoAaron » Tue Aug 19, 2003 12:06 pm

Dave,

What is the difference between a 'Senior Member' and a 'Old Timer'?

Post count? Or lenghth of time as a member?

FYI: I was one of the guys that got chased off the old Intermechannica BBS, when they used to let us 550 guys post there.

Again Thanks for the new site,
Aaron

Thanks Aaron!

Yep, just post count. I'll post something and we can review ranks and titles, or even just have it be "established" member over 300 posts.

Hi Ricardo, working on that one now... This is #6 from my list (see above)

Just tried many times to reply a message an got this message(already log in): "Sorry, but only users granted special access can reply to posts in this forum".

Where did this happen (what forum?)...

I'm trying to get used to this software too... lots of power, but the conversion was tough. I did have a cookie issue that just got fixed, which could have been what didn't let you post.

Thanks for the testing,

Dave
It was on this topic:
http://www.spyderclub.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=4507

Apparently it was fixed, other members we're able to reply.

indicator of new/recent postings with each new visit

Postby Natano » Wed Aug 20, 2003 9:01 am

I'm getting used to the new format, and I figuree that there're a few things on your list to complete the update. My suggestion - I really liked having the \"recent posting\" icon displayed when revisiting the site. Makes it easier when I'm at work so I'm not spending time looking at postings I've already viewed.

thanks,

Nathan

Cool split tool

Postby Dave Avery » Wed Aug 20, 2003 10:04 am

Hey guys

We mods can now split topics to clean out the battles and keep everything on-topic without killing the entire thread. I just moved the ed/joe tangle into flamers :) Cool!

I personally don't care much, but thought it would be neat to test it :)

I am also going to make another split to keep this on topic - what's working and what's not :)

Dave,

Great job by the way!

I noticed the clock appears off. I'm seeing tomorrow's date today on some postings. Sorry if someone already mentioned this.

No, glad you mentioned this... go in to your profile, at the top of each forum page and set your time zone.... Should be all set. I'll post an announcement about this.

Thanks,
