Is the site really, really slow; or is it just me

Postby RS-60 mark » Tue Feb 28, 2006 4:52 pm

It seems like the site is barely creeping. Not so with other sites. I tried to post a picture here and it never happened. Maybe it is just me, but I wonder . . .

I have just tried to post a pic and it won't go, there is a problem. I have some very very trick fasteners that I found that I am going to use on my aluminium interior. I will try to repost in a while.

Tried to upload a picture with one of my last e-mails but would not, gave up after 10 min.
Simon is anyone else you know of going from the LA area to the meet in Paso Robles towards end of April. Would like to caravan. A bit early to make plans but will NOT drive that distance alone.

i'm sure we're all happy to donate. just tell us when, where, how.

it's a shame we can't open a cafepress store. i'd buy a ton of crap.

it'd all be crap, but that's never stopped me before.

It's actually google, they are indexing the heck out of us. They send in a fleet of robots that take all the content for 3-4 hours at a time. Yikes!

The google indexing isn't really putting dollars, it's moreso making us more searchable. I would prefer if it didn't spider EVERY single thread of every single discussion for all of eternity.

I think it may be smart to move the old stuff into a forum you must log in to view, that would keep them from scanning 500K messages every time they visit.

spyder owners club has a paypal account where we can send a donation.
The valuable info I have gleened off this site is worth a few bucks.

Dave, who actually pays for the site upkeep. Is it the few sponsors we have or is it a labor of love. If it is the latter, I would not object to some sort of donation system. I agree with a550carguy, this has been so far an unbelievable resource and I have made what I consider to be some fairly cool friends with something very cool in common. Yes, that does include you too Simon.

Hi Guys

Actually, Bruce Ledoux and I share the costs. Bruce pays the host fees to me, and I do all the upkeep (with the help of our friendly mod Larry).

Yes the adverts bring some money in to help Bruce defray hosting costs. You can always throw a donation or two vial paypal to bruce@spyderclub.com, I will make a donation page soon.

Thanks,
DMA
